This policy explains what personal information Birdroom collects, why, and what your rights are. Birdroom is run by Darren Forsdike, trading as Birdroom, who is the data controller for your information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). Contact: support@birdroom.app.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored scrambled, never readable by us).
- Your records: birds, pairs, clutches, eggs, cages, tasks, notes, prices and photos you add.
- Billing details: your plan and subscription status. Card details are held by Stripe, not us.
- Support messages: anything you send us through the in-app support page or by email.
- Notification settings: your reminder preferences, and a device token if you turn on phone notifications.
- Technical information: basic usage statistics without cookies (pages visited, device type, country) and error reports when something goes wrong, so we can fix it.
Why we use it
- To provide Birdroom to you, under our contract with you: storing your records, sending reminders you have turned on, and support.
- To take payments for Pro, under our contract with you.
- To keep Birdroom secure and working, and to improve it, which is in our legitimate interests.
- To meet legal obligations such as keeping accounting records.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use these trusted providers to run Birdroom. They only process your information on our instructions:
- Supabase: database, login and photo storage (servers in London, UK).
- Vercel: hosts the website and collects cookie-free usage statistics.
- Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
- Resend: sends emails such as support replies and reminders.
- Sentry: error reports.
Some of these providers may process data in the United States. Where they do, they are covered by the UK–US data bridge or by standard contractual clauses that protect your information.
Cookies
Birdroom only uses cookies that are needed for it to work: to keep you signed in and to remember your plan. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent. The installed app also stores a copy of some data on your device so it loads quickly.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account and records for as long as your account is open.
- When you ask us to close your account, we delete your records and photos within 30 days.
- Billing records are kept for 6 years, as UK tax law requires.
- Error reports are deleted automatically within 90 days.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of your information (you can also export it yourself from Settings);
- have wrong information corrected;
- have your information deleted;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
- move your information to another service.
To use any of these rights, email support@birdroom.app. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Birdroom is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy we will tell you by email or in the app.
